India has won so many times in the last few days. And I know that most people of India are cherishing that as a big win for the democracy and India.
Gandhi did work after all, after all these years of war, corruption, modernisation, liberalisation, when Gandhi seemed more relevant on the currency notes (or may be Bollywood), one soldier from the yesteryears appears on the political scene of India and becomes the pioneer of India’s biggest people’s movement after independence; how often does that happen??
It might be a triumph of people of India but the democracy (or the better word would be the political structure in India that we call democracy) has gotten defeated big time. No movement ever before has shown mirror to the current political system of India like this before.
Now, the question arises whether a bunch of changes in this system would be enough to transform India. Lokpal Bill is definitely the beginning, but don’t we know that the ever-cunning politician class of India has already started working on a plan to curb this movement. TO TAKE BACK THE CONTROL.
The sitiuation is serious than we think. It has always been. We are lucky that we as a society are living in the times when India has started waking up to the reality which our forefathers denied all their life whether it was under the blind faith in the Gandhi-Nehru clan or politics based on non-issues like Babri Masjid. How was it different than the british rule then? Just that the people ruling India now were not white skinned…
Are we still free? Free of the filth of our own kind…
We need to ask ourselves, despite the deep hatred filled in the minds of people for politicians like Sharad Pawar, Yeddyruppa, A Raja, Karunanidhi… how do these sons-of-bitches get elected again and again? Who do you think will win the next election Congress or BJP or Congress or may be BJP… you got more choice?
There’s no dearth of people who realise this truth… We have seen that on television during Anna Hazare movement. But who’re these people, are they India? Or are they just English speaking, city-bred, only truly awakened class of India?
We need a Gandhi, somebody who can bring together the whole of India together, again…
- People who stay in remote parts of Odisha and Jharkhand.
- People from north eastern states, who we hardly hear of.
- People from South India, who are still under the rule of utterly corrupt leaders like Karunanidhi and Jayalalitha, and are blissfully unaware.
- People from tribal areas of Madhya Pradesh and Uttaranchal.
- People from Kashmir, the long lost child of India.
- People of UP, who after so many scams, still can’t find anybody better to represent them than Mayawati or Mulayam.
Just Delhi, Mumbai, Bangaluru and Kolkata can’t win this struggle. The same corrupt class will still get elected by the support of the rest of India. Because they’re living in a different reality… much different from us. A reality where votes can still be bought using packets of ghee and a kilo of rice.
We fail because, there’s no urgency, there’s no desperation. A desperation that we felt in 1942, during Quit India Movement. A desperation that Anna Hazare felt before going on fast until death. If every Indian felt that desperation, we’d be living in a different India today.
